Tender beef meets crisp asparagus in a garlicky stir-fry sauce, making this dish an irresistible weeknight favorite!
Ingredients:
For the Beef and Vegetables:
250g beef (sirloin or flank steak), cut into bite-sized cubes
1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
4-5 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
For the Marinade:
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Stir-Fry Sauce:
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 cup beef or chicken broth (optional, for extra sauce)
Instructions:
Marinate the Beef:
Combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper in a bowl.
Add the beef cubes, toss to coat, and let marinate for 15-20 minutes.
Prep the Asparagus:
Wash and cut the asparagus into 2-inch pieces. Set aside.
Cook the Beef:
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Sear the beef cubes for 2-3 minutes until browned on all sides but not fully cooked.
Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Stir-Fry the Asparagus and Garlic:
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil.
Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
Toss in the asparagus and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until tender-crisp.
Combine and Add the Sauce:
Return the beef to the skillet.
Mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and broth in a small bowl, then pour over the beef and asparagus.
Toss to coat evenly, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the beef is fully cooked.
Serve:
Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with fresh parsley or scallions, if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
